The death of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the emir of Dubai and a prominent figure in the UAE real estate sector, has left many in the region shocked. He was known for his vision and foresight, and his contributions to the country's development were widely recognized.

Born on December 18, 1946, Sheikh Ahmed was the son of Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Maktoum, who became ruler of the Emirate of Dubai in 1975. He grew up in the city of Ras al Khaimah, where he began his education at the age of seven. After completing his secondary school studies, he joined the army and served as a captain in the Royal Guard of the United Arab Emirates.

In 1969, Sheikh Ahmed was appointed as a member of the board of directors of the Abu Dhabi-based company, the American Building Company. He later went on to become the CEO of the company, overseeing its expansion into the Middle East. He was known for his strong leadership skills and his commitment to the welfare of the people of Dubai. However, Sheikh Ahmed's life was cut short when he passed away on January 16, 2020, at the age of 73. He was survived by his wife, Nasserah Al Maktoum, and his children, Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum, and Sheikh Ali Al Maktoum.

His legacy will be remembered not just for his achievements in real estate but also for his dedication to the well-being of his community. His passing marks the end of an era, but it also serves as a reminder that the UAE's economy remains resilient and capable of thriving even in the face of challenges.
